The Pledge by Kimberly Derting

Is it dangerous to know more than you’re supposed to?

17 year old Charlaina (Charlie) lives in a dystopian society where they divide the class by the language they speak. Anyone in a lower class is not allowed to look at a higher class while speaking there language. But somehow Charlie understands all the language and has to keep it a secret or she can die. She can’t trust anyone. The only place to take things of her mind is the bar, the only place where she doesn’t have to worry who to ignore and who to talk to. There she meets Max beautiful but suspicions boy and she can’t stop thinking about him. But she doesn’t want to reveal too much of herself. But soon she discovers that she is something more then she seems. The only hope to  save her country.

This is another dystopian society that I loved. Every page had a new twist and can’t wait for the 2nd book The Essence to come out. The ending was so intriguing I had to reread the book again. I loved how the story just flows. I would rate it 5/5!
