The Veil by Cory Putman Oakes

17. One more year before you become an adult, a year where you prepare for your college, a year where everything is supposed to go right. But for Addy her life was changed forever.

Addy is one of those girls that aren’t really popular, she more the plain, simple, normal girl. She didn’t have the most exciting life….. until her 17th birthday. That day was when she started to see the weirdest things. Things that belonged to a different world. The invisible world of Annorasi.  All of a sudden nothing is what it seems. Her house, her Gran, and even her crush have a role in her life that affects her. The new world is determined to find Addy, because of a crime that her parents are being accused of.  And she has to find a way to stop them from hurting her and her loved ones.

How more interesting can this book get! It was totally fantastic. I loved how Addy starts to discover her powers as she finds out that she is more than just a human. Also that she won’t stop until she finds a way to save her friends even if it means to sacrifice herself.  The secrets of her life turn out to be so horrifying yet incredible too. And the part where it described the golden gate bridge with such detail, that I could myself picture it vividly myself. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and rate it 5/5.
